Making Internships Work: A Toolkit for Public Health Employers and Their High School and Community College Students: A CPHA MOR publication developed for public health professionals to design and manage effective internships and to partner with schools in service learning and capstone projects. It was written by MOR consultant, Cyndi Billian Stern, Kathleen Schultz, UConn DMD/MPH candidate and Ifoema Nwankwo, MPH 2012 UConn.

Public Health - A Career for a Lifetime: A PowerPoint presentation to introduce middle through community college students to public health.

National Public Health Week 2016 Video Festival:  These short public health videos have been screened and organized to help public health professionals and middle through community college educators introduce a broad range of concepts and careers in public health to their students.   

 

Professional Development Opportunities

CPHA MOR offers professional for educators from high school through the community college level to incorporate public health into classroom, capstone and community service activities. We can present at your school and tailor the workshop to meet your needs. Educators will learn:

  • What is public health, what are the key areas and career pathways in public health?
  • Incorporating health literacy and advocacy into your curriculum 
  • How public health projects provide students with 21st century skills (communication and research skills, global awareness and cultural competence)
  • How can public health meet your experiential learning and capstone requirements?
  • Hot topics in public health: Health equity, vaccinations, prescription drug abuse, depression, climate change and public health, gun control
