Implementing Model Practices in Your Community: Health Equity and Access to Healthy Foods Through Community Engagement Efforts
Thursday, May 10, 2018 1:00:00 PM EDT - 2:00:00 PM EDT
Join us for the second webinar in the three-part Implementing Model Practices in Your
Community series to learn more about innovative approaches to community engagement that
lead to equity and access to healthy food. The Florida Department of Health in Manatee
County will discuss their efforts to implement community-driven healthy food access in
underserved communities. Their process provides a model for successful collaboration
between cross-county sectors and a framework to applying multi-tiered community engagement
results for program implementation. The Kansas City Health Department will discuss how
strengthening a partnership between public health and community organizers led to cultivating
a culture of health equity. Rather than working in the same areas but in silos, public health
and a well-known community organizing group now work more efficiently and in tandem due to
clearly defined mutual objectives.
