Join the Universal Health Care Foundation for the first in a series of forums, Drowning in Health Care Costs: All Hands on Deck, Monday, October 28, from 10:30-1 p.m. featuring a moderated conversation with Steven Brill, author of the Time Magazine article, "The Bitter Pill: Why Medical Bills are Killing Us." Mr. Brill’s thought-provoking article published earlier this year propelled the issue of high health care costs and prices to the forefront of the public debate. Joining Mr. Brill will be Patrick Charmel, CEO of Griffin Hospital, a community hospital that is committed to an innovative, patient-centered model of care. Also participating will be Kevin Lembo, State Comptroller who will bring the perspective of a large payer, in this case the state employees' health plan, which is experimenting with multiple approaches to reining in high health care costs. Moderating the panel will be Faith Middleton of Connecticut Public Radio. Quinnipiac University is the host partner for this and future Reform to Transform events. We look forward to a lively discussion that focuses on the challenges we face and potential solutions, some of which are already being tested in Connecticut.
