The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will host a webinar for state health agency staff to share lessons learned in preparing for and responding to Ebola in communities and the application of those lessons to seasonal influenza prevention.
Purpose: The purpose of this webinar is share experiences from up to three organizations/jurisdictions that have conducted community outreach activities related to Ebola preparedness and how those experiences working with CFBO can enhance existing partnerships to prevent seasonal influenza and prepare for pandemic influenza.
Background: ASTHO is funded by CDC to provide capacity building activities to state health agencies which support their work in reaching at-risk, and vulnerable populations related to pandemic influenza and other hazards preparedness.
Learning Objectives: upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify strategies used by state health agencies to conduct community outreach related to Ebola preparedness.
- Describe ways in which existing partnerships between public health and CFBOs to address seasonal influenza prevention contribute to preparedness and response efforts related to Ebola.
- Describe ways in which Ebola preparedness efforts contribute to enhanced pandemic influenza preparedness in terms of enhanced partnerships with CFBOs.
- Identify at least one strategy they can use in their own jurisdiction to enhance their agency’s Ebola preparedness/response efforts as well as their seasonal influenza prevention efforts.
Speakers: Inivited speakers include representatives from state public health agencies in jurisidictions with significant diaspora communities, representatives from CFBOs that have been engaged in the response or preparedness efforts, and CDC subject matter experts.
