Sexual Violence in Black and African American Communities

You are invited to join us this summer for special conversations about sexual violence and its impact on Black and African American communities. These events are free and open to the public.

Black Women and the Impact of Sexual Violence

This conversation will be facilitated by Freda Grant and focus on the impacts of sexual violence on the lives of Black women. According to Black Women's Blueprint, 60% of Black women have experienced sexual violence in their lifetimes. This conversation will be semi-educational and highlight the historic impact of sexual violence on the lives of Black women. However, participants will also begin a conversation about what to do with this information and where to go from here.

During this community conversation, participants will address the following questions: How do you see the historical and current impact of sexual violence in the lives of Black women? What are some ways this violence has been addressed? What are the ways in which this violence has not been addressed? What do we, as a community, need?
