Thanks to all of you who have already taken action in support of protecting Connecticut's youngest citizens from toxic chemical exposure by contacting your legislators! Despite having the needed votes to get our bill approved by the Appropriations Committee, the Minority Party "talked the bill to death." But,the fight is not over.
Click here to take action to protect our communities from exposure to the worst of toxic chemicals. We still have the opportunity to resurrect our bill and are aiming to do so by amending HB 6489. Passage of this amended bill would set up a much needed framework within Connecticut's Department of Public Health to identify chemicals that are harmful to children based on scientific, peer-reviewed studies and authorize DPH to give recommendations to the Legislature every two years for potential action. DPH supports this bill, which will have no fiscal impact on our state budget. More importantly, passage of this bill will continue CT’s leadership to protect children’s health. Contact your Representative and Senator today! Please take a few moments to contact your lawmakers again (or for the first time) and urge them to support protecting children from toxic chemical exposure. You can do so by sending this emailform created by the Coalition for a Safe and Healthy Connecticut of which CPHA is a member. The Toy and the Chemical Industries are lobbying hard every single day at the Capitol to defeat us. The only way we win is if your legislators hear from your right now. Take action now! Thanks for all your help, Sincerely, Noele Kidney Project Coordinator Connecticut Public Health Association
