We are less than 3 weeks away from the 2014 CPHA Public Health Awards & Networking Breakfast. Come celebrate Connecticut's Public Health Champions with us on Thursday, April 10th at Quinnipiac University, Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in North Haven, CT. The C.E.-A. Winslow Award winner is William G Faraclas, Dr.P.H.
Professor William G. Faraclas, is founder of the Public Health program at Southern Connecticut State University, where he chaired the Department of Public Health for 33 years. Dr. Faraclas is Director of SCSU's International Field Studies in Health Program, through which he has taken 26 groups of students to Guatemala and Mexico, and Director of the Environmental Health Training Program, a workforce development collaborative with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. He is recipient of the J. Philip Smith Outstanding Teaching Award (2004) and the Robert E. Jirsa Service Award (2013)-two of the University's top honors. He has been a member of the CPHA Board of Directors since 1985. (He is married to Kara Faraclas and has four children and two grandchildren.)

Panelists will discuss municipal workforce needs in urban and suburban settings and how schools of public health can prepare to meet those needs. DPH Data Day- An Informational Forum on Public Health Data April 7, 2014, 9:30 AM- 11:00 AM, The Lyceum, 227 Lawrence St, Hartford, CT Attendees will hear from several programs across DPH that maintain important databases and information management systems in the areas of infectious disease, chronic disease, hospitalizations, maternal and child health and environmental health.
