Public Health Specialist

The Naugatuck Valley Health District is seeking a full-time Public Health Specialist to work in a Local Health District serving six municipalities. The position will encompass a range of activities in the areas of assessment, quality improvement, program evaluation, performance management, strategic planning, and workforce development, among others. This position reports to the Director of Health, coordinates with the Management Team, and serves as the Accreditation Coordinator for the agency.

The Public Health Specialist Position

This unique position provides the opportunity to coordinate initiatives at all levels of the organization that meet national standards for local public health departments. The Public Health Specialist will implement principles and model practices for public health programs and administration while striving to improve the health of the community.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:

-Have a graduate level degree (or enrolled in a course of study at the graduate level) in public health, health administration, public administration, business administration, or a related field and a minimum of one year demonstrated work experience

-In lieu of the above, a BA/BS degree with 3 or more years work experience 

-Have effective oral and written communication skills

-Be enthusiastic, motivated, organized, and team-spirited
