Call for Abstracts 2024

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS!

The Connecticut Public Health Association (CPHA) Program Planning Committee is accepting abstracts for oral presentations and student posters for CPHA’s 2024 In-Person Annual Conference.

Conference theme: Building Healthier Communities Together: Centering on Community for Change-making

Guidelines

Oral Presentations Abstracts

We are accepting abstracts from academics, community groups, and practitioners of public health and allied fields that specifically relate to this year's conference theme.  This includes abstracts for:

1) Research / work that involves community methodologically (such as community based participatory research, community engaged research, photo-voice, etc), OR

2) Research / work that is designed to impact health at the community level and which involves community input.

Oral presentations will be roughly 12 minutes each and will grouped into hour long breakout sessions by CPHA.

Abstracts for oral presentations that do not meet one of the above categories will not be considered for inclusion in this year's annual conference.

NOTE: While we are eager to receive thematically-relevant abstracts regarding research, programmatic efforts, advocacy, and more, this is absolutely NOT an opportunity to promote a particular product, industry or business.  Abstracts that materially promote a specific business, product or industry will be rejected.

EXTENDED DEADLINE!

Now Due Sunday, August 18th by 11:59 pm

Submissions for oral presentations are due by Friday, August 9th at 11:59pm

Student Poster Abstracts

Current students & those who have graduated within the last 2 years are invited to submit an abstract for a poster presentation of work completed as part of your student experience.  This may include work you have done as part of a course, as a thesis, as part of an internship / placement, or as other research undertaken while you were a student.  While your poster must pertain to public health, it does NOT have to connect to this year's conference theme.

If accepted, you will be responsible for printing your own poster which should be approximately 36" x 48", as well as bringing your own display materials such as poster board, an easel, etc.  You may be able to borrow these from your university.  CPHA will not be able to provide them for you.

Submissions for student poster presentations are due by Friday, October 4th at 11:59pm

 Abstract Submission Form

Please complete all sections of this form in its entirety to be considered for the Annual Conference. Once you are done, this form is automatically recorded and sent back to CPHA.

Please take a moment to review the abstract rubric that will be used to evaluate your work.
