Elizabeth Schwartz, President
Elizabeth Schwartz is an instructor of public health, and is the manager of a COVID-19 and flu education, outreach & vaccination program working in six of New Haven’s most under-served communities. She has served in various roles on CPHA’s Executive Committee since 2016, and looks forward to helping the organization continue to meet the evolving needs of the public health community throughout the state.
Elizabeth dreams of living in a world scripted by Aaron Sorkin and scored by upbeat, one-hit wonders, and where everyone has access to outstanding healthcare and exceptional public education. In her free time, she is an avid baker, photographer, and escape room enthusiast. She has an incurable case of wanderlust.

Paressa Charmchi-Goodwin, President-Elect
Pareesa Charmchi Goodwin is the inaugural executive director of the Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health for the Connecticut General Assembly. She is a public health and public policy professional, focused on the systems that shape our health options and outcomes. Prior to her current role, she served as executive director of the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative, where she advocated for oral health access and equity through advancements in coverage and financing, workforce development, and medical-dental integration.
Pareesa has also worked in state-level policy analysis and advocacy at Community Catalyst, in municipal policy and practices to support recovery from substance use disorders for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, and in policy research focused on health service financing strategies for children and youth with special health care needs. She holds a master’s in public health with a concentration in epidemiology from Boston University School of Public Health.

Chloe Johnson, President- Elect
Chloe Johnson is an organized, highly driven public health and higher education practitioner with academic interests in research and teaching including chronic diseases such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes with a passion for student success and wellbeing, health disparities, health promotion/education, and social justice. Chloe has her Master’s of Public Health (MPH) degree from Southern Connecticut State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Public Health (BS) from Eastern Connecticut State University. Currently working in the Internal Medicine Section of Infectious Diseases completing HIV and Aging research at Yale University, an Adjunct Professor in Public Health at Southern Connecticut State University. She currently serves in a few roles for the Connecticut Public Health Association (CPHA) as Website and Database Manager, Co-Chair for the Program Planning Committee, and previous Director of the Board. Chloe has also become a 200hr. Certified Yoga Teacher from Yoga In Our City (YIOC) offering her community free yoga classes in parks across Connecticut. In her free time, Chloe enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, and dancing.
Randy Domina, Secretary
Randy Domina received a
Master’s in Public Health from Southern Connecticut University and brings a
diverse background to the field of public health. For over 10 years, Randy
worked with children of varying ages, helping at-risk teenagers, teaching
environmental education, directing operations of an environmental education
center, and eventually teaching geography and history at a middle school after
receiving his Certification for Middle School Social Studies in the State of
Connecticut. In addition, Randy’s carpentry skills allowed him to start and own
his own remodeling business for many years. In 2015, Randy also participated in
a New England Public Health Training Center Fellowship. Randy received the
Michael J. Perlin Student Award. Randy has lead an adventurous life including
scuba diving under and climbed an iceberg.
Angela Carrano, Treasurer
Dr. Carrano practiced as a staff nurse in an inner-city emergency department trauma center for 20 years, and recently as a community public health nurse case manager in home care for the past 10 years. Realizing her passion for teaching as she mentored and precepted new nurses, she began teaching BLS early in her nursing career. Shortly after, she returned to school to achieve an MSN in nursing education and her DNP in population health. Her doctoral research focused on emergency disaster preparedness in the United States and abroad. She has given many presentations and holds many certifications in emergency preparedness. Her doctoral studies also included studying abroad in Cork, Ireland. Dr. Carrano has been in nursing education for 16 years, teaching in areas of her clinical expertise, including critical care nursing, mental health, and community public health nursing.
